In this episode of Science Nation, host Sorin Badea (Radio Guerrilla) welcomes Sabina Suru (Marginal.ro, curator Otherwise Residency 2026) and researcher Alexandra Sofonea (UNATC) in an exploratory dialogue the dynamic overlap between artistic and scientific investigations, in the transdisciplinary residency format developed through Otherwise Residency.
Reflecting on the qualitative research developed during Otherwise Residency 2025, the guests discuss how bringing artists and researchers together revealed shared methodologies, common obstacles, and distinct cultural divides. While both fields rely on hypotheses and experimentation, they often diverge when addressing uncertainty and failure—scientists operate within rigorous systemic publishing rules, whereas artists treat serendipity as creative breakthrough. The conversation highlights how bridging these two worlds requires overcoming language barriers and reconsidering traditional boundaries.
Science Nation is a weekly podcast and radio column, co-hosted by Sorin Badea and Andrei Tudose, on the Update show, at Radio Guerrilla.
