Share, Tag or Dye Again / 2023

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲(𝗱) 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. A𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻!

We can’t underestimate the importance of social media in making our work known, but (sigh), do I really have to post today.. again?

Sounds familiar, right? We know it might sound a little eh and the consumption of art via screen (phone, computer) has become so ubiquitous that it often replaces a visit to a gallery or museum, while the experience is implicitly degraded, but it’s not all bad. While it does make us spend more time online than in the studio, it also has this strange power of effortlessly bringing us together. We want to make this count, so Share, Tag or Dye Again is that place where social media meets the tangible. Again, we invited the whole world to join us and work with us in creating one big(ger) collective work, since social media can instrument it so easily (and we wanted the best of both worlds).

Through an open call, 304 people from 35 countries joined us this year and together we hacked yet again  the idea of open call. It became a beautiful collaborative platform that knows no gender, country, religion, medium and well, no preconceptions or judgements of any kind really. All of you out there who joined us contributed with a link from your social media feeds, to be brought into matter using the cyanotype, a 180 years old photographic technique, based on iron salts that are UV sensitive and yield a deep blue print.

Public events:

• Global open call for contributions – links to a social media post, where the artist has self-promoted their artistic work, regardless of medium, approach, but this time with one limitation – the post had to be published no sooner than the previous open call (yes, fresh work for a fresh installation). Even with this one condition, we made it our purpose to not decide on behalf of anyone content-wise, so everyone was welcome and together we hacked the open call protocol – the validation/invalidation tool became AGAIN our collaboration platform.
• Exhibition circuit in 5 spaces of all shapes and sizes in 5 cities – in Romania and Spain:
  March-May 2023 – Camera, artist-run space in Cluj-Napoca RO
  June 2023 – Lapsus, artist-run space in Timișoara RO
  July – Centro Civic Pati Llimona, within the Experimental PhotoFestival 2023, Barcelona ES
  August – to be announced
  September – 2/3 gallery, Bucharest RO
• Workshops at each of the above mentioned stops:
  March – Anthotype workshop at the University of Arts and Design, Cluj-Napoca
  June – Cyanotype workshop for anyone curious enough, of any age at Digital:Canvas\, artist-run space in Timisoara
  July – Hybrid and post-digital photo/video approaches workshops in the framework of the Experimental PhotoFestival 2023
  August – Photo Trends Festival by VSLO 2023, 2 Mai (RO)
  September – Cyanoparty, on the occasion of the World Cyanotype Day at Allkimik, Bucharest
• Other events – guided tours, Public debate session at 2/3 galleria, DoiJoi 2023 circuit, White Night of Museums Cluj.

Share, Tag or Dye Again is currently being developed in co-production Allkimik & Marginal, in partnership with The National Institute for Research-Development for Textiles and Leather, Alternative Photography, Experimental PhotoFestival, Camera, Lapsus, 2/3 Galeria, VAGon – in(ter)disciplined space, Digital:Canvas\.
