Open Practice Society – Video Edition is the latest iteration of Marginal artistic mentorship program. This round is designed to bring together aspiring performers, visual artists & videographers from diverse backgrounds and provide them with the opportunity to collaborate with experienced mentors in an interdisciplinary approach: 5 students each from the fields of cinematography, video art, and choreography will work with 3 mentors and create 5 collaborative video-based art pieces with focus on contemporary dance.
The program offers an immersive experience that encourages students to push their creative boundaries and explore new techniques and approaches. Open Practice Society provides the chance to develop skills, and bring fresh artistic visions to life in a collaborative and open context. This year we are very happy to rely on the marvelous support of Panasonic, who brings a wide range of Lumix state of art equipment to our creative playground, along with WestBuy, who makes everything on our set glow with a complete NanLite lighting set-up.
The 5 video art pieces created by the participants in the program will be showcased during March DoiJoi, at VAGon – In(ter)disciplined space within Malmaison Studios, opening a wider dialogue between the students and the public. This will allow them to experience each natural step of the creative process, from choosing the initial working idea, to team brainstorming, technical and compositional choices, all the way to adapting the video piece to a curatorial context dedicated to disseminating the work and open a transparent dialogue with the public.
